Candidates must have strong research and advocacy writing skills, and litigation and case management experience in the areas of SEC enforcement matters, white collar criminal matters, internal investigations, securities litigation and False Claims Act matters. Vedder Price is seeking a junior to mid-level associate to join its International Trade & Compliance group in the Washington, DC office. Candidates must have 3-5 years of trade (EAR, ITAR, and/or sanctions) and government investigations experience. The ideal candidate will have experience in export controls and economic sanctions, specifically, the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), U.S. anti-boycott laws and regulations, and the various sanctions regimes administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), as well as some experience with rules and regulations governing imports. Experience with the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) is preferred.

The ideal candidate will also have experience conducting due diligence, providing advice on compliance with sanctions, export regulations and anti-corruption laws, conducting internal investigations, developing compliance programs, preparing export classifications, preparing license applications, and preparing voluntary disclosures. Foreign language skills (especially Chinese, Portuguese, Russian, or Spanish) are a plus. Candidates must be admitted in (and in good standing with) the District of Columbia or taking steps to become admitted in that jurisdiction.
