Governor Newsom approved many new employment laws taking effect in 2026. These laws, together with recent court decisions, impose new compliance challenges on employers in California.
This webinar will provide an overview of many notable new laws applicable to employers. Some of the significant new laws we plan to cover include:
- AB 692 - Prohibits employers from requiring workers to pay back monetary amounts for leaving employment prior to the end of a retention period.
- SB 294 - Requires employers to post a new notice and notify workers of various rights in the workplace.
- SB 53 - Provides whistleblower protection to employees who report potential violations under the Transparency in Frontier Artificial Intelligence Act (TFAIA).
- SB 464 - Mandates penalties for employers who fail to submit annual pay data reports and requires demographic information be stored separately from personnel records.
- SB 513 - Requires employers to include education or training records among the personnel records employees have the right to inspect and receive copies.
