Vedder Price is pleased to announce that David Rownd has joined the firm as a Shareholder in its Litigation practice area in the New York office. Prior to joining Vedder Price, Mr. Rownd served as a partner at Thompson Coburn LLP.

Mr. Rownd maintains a nationwide business litigation practice that focuses on representing clients involved in high-stakes, complex litigation. He has tried bench and jury trials in state and federal courts, conducted hearings before administrative agencies, and represented clients in arbitrations and mediations before domestic and international alternative dispute resolution tribunals.

Mr. Rownd approaches legal disputes from a business perspective, pinpointing the key leverage points that position his clients for the best possible result. He is relied upon by in-house counsel, executives, owners of privately held companies and individual entrepreneurs to advise them on business disputes involving contractual, statutory and common law duties in a number of industries, including real estate, telecommunications, marketing, automotive and insurance. Additionally, Mr. Rownd is often involved in litigation matters involving issues with property rights including representing clients that manage portfolios of instruments, such as leases and easements for cell towers and billboards. He also has substantial experience prosecuting and defending emergency proceedings for injunctive relief.

“Dave provides the firm with additional shareholder level commercial litigation capabilities in New York, and in Chicago where he was based for so long previously and has many great relationships,” said Randall M. Lending, Chair of Vedder Price’s Litigation practice area. “We are excited to have him and look forward to taking advantage of his experience and enthusiasm to serve his clients.”

“I’m thrilled to be joining such a great firm with a major presence in both Chicago and New York, and to enhance my existing client work with a broad platform and a collegial atmosphere,” said Mr. Rownd. “I’m excited for the additional opportunities to work with my colleagues across different practice groups in all of our offices.”

Mr. Rownd earned his J.D. from Washington University in St. Louis and his B.A. from Northwestern University.
