Jake W. Wiesen

Associate

Jake W. Wiesen is an Associate in the Chicago office of Vedder Price and a member of the firm’s Investment Services practice group.

Mr. Wiesen focuses his practice on representing U.S. registered investment companies, including mutual funds, exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and closed-end funds, as well as their independent directors on a wide range of regulatory, compliance, operational and governance matters.

Mr. Wiesen counsels clients on fund formation, including corporate organization, SEC registration and issuance, and has experience with both open-end fund and closed-end fund launches. Mr. Wiesen advises clients on ongoing compliance matters, including board administration and meeting preparation; drafting and reviewing registration statements, shareholder reports, proxy statements, compliance policies and procedures and other fund documents; and negotiating service provider agreements. Mr. Wiesen also counsels fund independent directors on their fiduciary duties and all aspects of their governance and oversight responsibilities.

While in law school, Mr. Wiesen served as an Associate Editor of the University of Illinois Law Review and worked as a legal intern for the Chicago Transit Authority and as a judicial extern for the Honorable Susan G. Braden of the United States Court of Federal Claims.
