Daniel P. Jackson is a member of Vedder Price’s Litigation practice area.

Mr. Jackson focuses his practice on representing financial institutions, equipment lessors and manufacturers, and interstate transportation companies in litigation matters throughout the United States. He has significant experience enforcing commercial lending/leasing agreements and defending tort claims. Mr. Jackson represents a wide array of corporate and individual clients in a range of other matters, including toxic torts, products liability, intellectual property, trade secrets and consumer fraud matters. Mr. Jackson also has experience defending companies against consumer litigation matters, including class actions and claims under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

Mr. Jackson has experience in all aspects of litigation, appeals and post-judgment proceedings, including arbitrations and bench and jury trials. Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Jackson was an editor for the John Marshall Law Review. Additionally, he was co-captain of the Regional Champion team in the ATLA Mock Trial Competition (2006) as well as co-captain of the National Semi-Finalist team that same year. He participated in numerous other trial competitions, including the Kenneth Kandaras Mock Trial Competition (1st Place), the Georgetown White Collar Crime Invitational and the LoneStar Classic.

Experience

  • Obtained multi-million dollar arbitration award on behalf of equipment lessor/manufacturer.
  • Obtained summary judgment against obligors under an equipment finance lease agreement and related personal and corporate guaranties.
  • Obtained dismissal of class action complaint, containing allegations of consumer fraud and negligence against a corporate defendant.
  • Obtained complete dismissal of all claims against his clients in a patent infringement case.
  • Obtained a dismissal (for defendant client) in a case in which the Plaintiff filed suit for defamation, stemming from a statement made by the Defendant to the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Committee (ARDC) in the course of an official inquiry.
  • Obtained dismissal for client that was sued for defamation, on the grounds that the allegedly defamatory statements were protected opinions.
  • Assisted in settling a case on behalf of four children who had been the victims of excessive force by law enforcement officials. The case made national headlines.
