Shareholder and Chair of the firm’s Labor & Employment practice area Amy L. Bess will teach a class on sexual harassment in the #MeToo era on July 12, 2018 at the DC Bar. This CLE class follows the release of Ms. Bess’s co-authored four part series, “Addressing Sexual Harassment in the #MeToo Era,” published by Corporate Compliance Insights. Class Details:

The three hour class will explore the legal framework for sexual harassment claims, including the requirements that the conduct be “unwelcome,” “because of sex,” and “severe or pervasive.” Ms. Bess and her co-presenters will examine the circumstances under which an employer will be vicariously liable for the actions or omissions of its managers and how employers can satisfy the legal requirements for an affirmative defense. Additionally, they will discuss the legal and practical requirements for a prompt and thorough investigation, as well as some thorny investigation issues, including selecting the appropriate investigator, dealing with attorney-client privilege issues, and protecting the confidentiality of the investigation.
