Robert S. Rigg is a Shareholder and Chair of Vedder Price's Intellectual Property group and Co-Chair of the Intellectual Property Litigation group.

He concentrates his practice in all areas of intellectual property, including patent, trademark, copyright and trade secrets law with a primary focus on patent infringement.

He has a special focus in the areas of complex patent infringement litigation of all types of technology, including electrical, heavy machinery, pharmaceutical, chemistry and computer technology as well as business method patents. He has appeared as lead counsel in numerous federal district courts, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the International Trade Commission and is a member of the Trial Bar for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. In addition to his litigation experience, he has counseled clients on intellectual property asset management, the procurement and enforcement of patents, trademark and copyrights, interference proceedings in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, licensing and technology agreements.

Mr. Rigg is also registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark office. In addition, he received an “AV Preeminent” Peer Rating in Martindale-Hubbell and was selected for inclusion in Illinois Super Lawyers in the Intellectual Property Litigation practice area from 2012-2022. He has been selected by his peers in 2004 and 2013 to 2023 as a Leading Lawyer in Intellectual Property Law and in The Best Lawyers in America from 2016 to 2022 in the field of Intellectual Property Litigation and Patent Law.
