Venu Talanki, Vice Chair of the firm’s Finance & Transactions group and a member of the Board of Directors of the firm, was recently recognized among the 2020 Crain’s Chicago Business Notable Minorities in Accounting, Consulting & Law. The list highlights top Chicago area minority attorneys who are currently serving in a senior-level role at his or her firm and have made significant contributions to advancing the industry.

In Mr. Talanki’s roles as Associate Hiring Committee Chair and Diversity Committee member, he actively works on cultivating the firm’s diversity and inclusion policies through mentorship and summer and lateral associate hiring initiatives Mr. Talanki has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the North American South Asian Bar Association, co-founded and was the first president of the South Asian Bar Association of Michigan and was named the 2018 Vedder Price Fellow for the Leadership Counsel on Legal Diversity’s Fellows Program, helping a new and more diverse generation of attorneys ascend to positions of leadership.

The 2020 list features only individuals for whom nominations were submitted and accepted after a review by Crain’s Chicago Business editorial team. To qualify for the list, nominees must be based in the Chicago area and be employed full time at a public accounting, consulting or law firm of 25 or more employees. They must have shown the ability or power to effect change in their role or area of practice, serve as a role model or mentor, and have assumed a leadership position outside their organization.
