Vedder Price is pleased to announce that Anthony Pacheco has joined the firm as a Shareholder in its Government Enforcement & Special Investigations practice group in Los Angeles. Mr. Pacheco focuses on white collar criminal defense, internal investigations and complex business litigation, including civil and criminal trials.

Mr. Pacheco’s work as President of the Los Angeles Board of Police Commissioners is still recognized to this day. His responsibilities as the highest ranking official with the Los Angeles Police Department included oversight of all aspects of the Department including its $1.3 billion budget, officer-involved shootings, and in-custody deaths. As a former Assistant U.S. Attorney for the United States Department of Justice, Criminal Division, Mr. Pacheco participated in all aspects of federal criminal investigation and prosecution.

Mr. Pacheco’s long list of clients, including public and private companies, medical centers, high level executives and studios amongst others, benefit from his involvement in handling over 100 internal investigations and management of sensitive public relations issues dealing with criminal, quasi-criminal, civil, regulatory, administrative and parallel proceedings. His white collar criminal defense experience includes, but is not limited to, health care fraud and abuse, False Claim Act, Stark and anti-kickback laws, HIPAA, data privacy and cybersecurity, whistleblower claims, securities and financial fraud, insider trading, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, #metoo, executive/employee misconduct, and wire and mail fraud.

Prior to joining Vedder Price, Mr. Pacheco served as Chair of the White Collar Defense & Investigations Group at Jeffer Mangels Butler & Mitchell LLP. He has consistently been identified by California Lawyer as one of the "Best Lawyers In America" and as a "Southern California Super Lawyer.” He has served as a monitor appointed by the Los Angeles Superior Court and as counsel on a blue-ribbon commission to review police misconduct. 

Mr. Pacheco earned his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and his B.A. from Princeton University, with distinction, in the American Studies Program.
