Vedder Thinking | Events Thomas Kowalski to Speak on Patent Lifecycles at Pharmaceutical Industry Conference

Thomas J. Kowalski, a Shareholder in the New York office of Vedder Price and a member of the firm's Intellectual Property group, will serve as a panelist during the 13th annual Maximizing Pharmaceutical Patent Lifecycles conference at the New York Marriott Downtown. Mr. Kowalski's session, titled "Personalized Medicine and Patent Life Cycle Considerations in Light of Prometheus and Other Recent Challenges to Subject Matter Patentability, Written Description and More," will address a variety of topics, including the Supreme Court's Prometheus decision, patent controversies relative to research on genetic material, the Federal Circuit’s upcoming Myriad opinion, anticipating written description challenges relative to biosimilars and the scope of patent infringement exception under §271(e)(1).
