April 24, 2013
Thomas J. Kowalski, a Vedder Price Shareholder and member of the firm’s Intellectual Property group, will moderate the panel discussion titled “The Morning After! AIA Is Fully Enacted and Other Patent Developments: What to Do in U.S. & European Patent Prosecution” during the 2013 Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) International Convention at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Kowalski’s session will consider the United States Patent and Trademark Office’s implementation of the America Invents Act, and address concerns about how to best proceed in the parallel "first-to-invent" and "first-inventor-to-file" patent systems in the United States. The panel will feature perspectives from representatives of the USPTO, the European Patent Office, the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, and Pfizer.
