Patrick Spangler to Speak at American Bar Association’s ERISA Basics National Institute Conference
Patrick W. Spangler, Vedder Price Shareholder and member of the firm's Labor and Employment practice area, will speak at the American Bar Association's 29th Annual National Institute on ERISA Basics in Chicago. The two-and-a-half day conference will provide a comprehensive overview of current ERISA matters for practitioners who address issues related to employee benefit plans.
Mr. Spangler will be participating in three sessions. He will serve as a panelist for the session, "ERISA Basics Concepts – Statutory Overview" which will provide a basic overview of the statute’s fundamental concepts, such as what is a plan, what is a plan sponsor, and who is an employee. Mr. Spangler will also be a panelist for "ERISA Basics Concepts – Regulatory and Informal Sources" which will review the various regulations that apply to ERISA benefit plans as well as other forms of rulings and guidance issued by governing agencies.
Mr. Spangler will co-present a session titled "Collectively Bargained Plans" which will provide a general overview of the special rules and regulations governing multiemployer employee pension and welfare benefit plans under ERISA.
