Samuel M. Deau

Associate

Samuel M. Deau is an Associate in Vedder Price’s Chicago office and a member of the firm’s Government Investigations & White Collar Defense group.

Sam focuses his practice on white collar criminal defense, internal investigations, and securities litigation. Sam regularly represents individuals and corporations in sensitive matters from pre-indictment investigation through trial involving the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), and other government agencies.

Recently, Sam served on multiple trial teams defending individuals accused of securities fraud, wire fraud, health care fraud, and various conspiracy charges. His experience also includes drafting critical motions, including appellate briefs filed in the Fifth Circuit, as well as an amicus brief in the United States Supreme Court.

Sam received his law degree from the Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law. While in law school, he served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Charles P. Kocoras of the Northern District of Illinois and was Notes Editor for the Journal of Technology & Intellectual Property. Prior to law school, Sam studied economics at the University of Tampa.
