Mr. Sylvan represents businesses, individuals and public entities in complex litigation involving commercial and contract disputes, securities and common law fraud, fiduciary matters, real estate, government investigations and white-collar defense. He also handles cases involving consumer protection, trade secrets and non-compete agreements.

Mr. Sylvan has experience with all phases of litigation, from pleadings, discovery and depositions to dispositive motions and trial. He has secured summary judgments and settlements in high-stakes matters, including for a large group of homeowners regarding easements for permanent home access, a plaintiff in a federal securities fraud case on the eve of closing arguments at trial, a trucking company regarding deceptive trade practices and consumer protection claims, a utility company against an end-user regarding utility usage monitoring software, a telecommunications infrastructure business regarding employee retention credit, a dentist against a dental support organization regarding affiliate termination, and an individual landowner regarding riparian rights. 

Before entering private practice, Mr. Sylvan served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Susan Richard Nelson of the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota and as a law intern for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Minnesota.
