Vedder Thinking | Articles Sam Tyfield Weighs in on Potential Changes to EU Intellectual Property Laws
Sam Tyfield, a Partner in Vedder Price's London office and member of the firm's Investment Services and Finance & Transactions practice groups, authored an article titled "EU to Change IP Laws within Four Years," for RegTechFS, an online platform hosted by regulatory think tank JWG.
In the article, Mr. Tyfield discusses the EU Commission's desire to change the current landscape of intellectual property law, which is evident in its draft Directive published in November 2013. The Directive, which focuses on "the protection of undisclosed know-how and business information (trade secrets) against their unlawful acquisition, use and disclosure," is expected to be implemented into national law over the next four years, drastically affecting how individuals and businesses interact with IP laws.
