Vedder Thinking | Articles Sam Tyfield Discusses ESMA's Final Report and Third Country Firms in RegTechFS Article
Sam Tyfield, a Partner in Vedder Price's London office and member of the firm's Investment Services and Finance & Transactions groups, recently authored the article "Caught by Europe’s 2017 Dragnet? New MiFID II Standards Could Mean the Worst" for RegTechFS, an online platform hosted by regulatory think tank JWG.
Last month, the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) released its final report on draft technical standards detailing authorisations, passporting, registration of third country firms and cooperation between EU competent authorities. Mr. Tyfield notes that while ESMA has clarified a number of issues, some questions regarding registration of third country firms remain unanswered.
