Richard W. Pearse is a Shareholder in the firm’s Corporate group.

Mr. Pearse’s practice is concentrated in domestic and international Infrastructure Development and Finance.

He represents international and domestic lenders, owners, manufacturers, OEMs, contractors and engineering firms in all aspects of project development and finance, including site acquisition, structuring SPE and other equity participations, joint venture and development agreements, EPC contracting and off-take and supply contracts and technology licensing.

A representative list of projects includes manufacturing plant and equipment facilities, airports, seawalls, roads, free-trade zones, power (renewable and conventional), ethanol and water treatment in the United States (including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands), Argentina, Aruba, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Great Britain, India, Italy, Lebanon, Mexico, Mongolia, the Philippines, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Spain, Taiwan, the U.A.E. and Venezuela.  He regularly advises clients regarding various international "doing business" issues, such as compliance with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, choice of law and forum, and various international conventions and treaties.

Mr. Pearse has spoken on and written several articles and book chapters on a wide range of related topics, including the chapter on China in Doing Business in the BRICS (Globe Law and Business 2013), the chapter on China in International Public Procurement (Globe Law and Business 2009), “International Privatization” (chapter 22) in Construction Law (Matthew Bender 2011), “Industrial and EPC Projects” (chapter 12) in Construction Law: Transactional Considerations (Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education 2017) and “Managing ‘Split-EPC Contracts’ for International Construction Projects” in the Journal of the American College of Construction Lawyers (2010).

Mr. Pearse was listed in the Expert Guides—Guide to the World’s Leading Construction Lawyers in 2011. He was also ranked in Who’s Who Legal for Illinois and was designated a Leading Lawyer by the Leading Lawyers Network. From 2009 to 2017, Mr. Pearse has been ranked in Chambers USA in the Illinois Construction category. The Legal 500 United States guide recommended Mr. Pearse in the Real Estate and Construction—Construction (including Construction Litigation) category in 2012, 2015 and 2016. He has also been selected for inclusion in Illinois Super Lawyers.
