Martin McElligott

Martin McElligott is an Associate in Vedder Price’s Chicago office and a member of the firm’s Litigation practice area.

Mr. McElligott is also a member of the firm’s Privacy, CyberSecurity & Media practice group. In that regard, Mr. McElligott regularly advises private- and public-sector clients on various privacy and data security matters. Mr. McElligott has assisted clients in preparing for and responding to data security breaches, sending required notifications to affected individuals, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and states’ Offices of Attorney General.

Prior to joining Vedder Price, Mr. McElligott served as a judicial extern to Cook County Circuit Court Judge John P. Kirby, in which capacity he prepared bench memoranda on motions for summary judgment and forum non conveniens, and regularly observed and assisted with case management status calls and motion hearings. For this work, he received a pro bono notation from the University of Illinois College of Law.

While attending the University of Illinois College of Law, Mr. McElligott was an associate editor for the Elder Law Journal. Mr. McElligott also served as an executive board member for the Student Bar Association and served as a legal extern to the Illinois House of Representatives. In this capacity, he assisted on a wide array of matters involving proposed legislation, the drafting of bills, and policy concerns.
