Luisa M. Lewis

Associate

Luisa M. Lewis is an Associate in Vedder Price’s New York office and a member of the firm’s Investment Services practice group.

Ms. Lewis has experience counseling registered investment companies (including open-end mutual funds, closed-end funds and exchange-traded funds) and investment advisers on a broad range of regulatory, compliance and transactional matters arising under U.S. federal securities laws, particularly the Investment Company Act of 1940, the Securities Act of 1933 and the Investment Advisers Act of 1940. Ms. Lewis also counsels the independent board members of registered investment companies on fiduciary duties and corporate governance matters. 

While in law school, Ms. Lewis served as the Editor-at-Large for the Loyola University Chicago Law Journal and the In-house Director of the Honors Appellate Advocacy Executive Board. She was a competitor at the Andrews Kurth Moot Court National Championship, a competition for the top sixteen moot court teams in the country. In addition, she worked as a Research Assistant for Professor of Law Jeffrey L. Kwall at Loyola University Chicago School of Law, regarding issues in corporate taxation.

Prior to joining Vedder Price, Ms. Lewis served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Samuel Der-Yeghiayan in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Prior to her legal career, Ms. Lewis worked in international education, specializing in language training, educational travel and cultural exchange.
