John H. Geager

Associate

John H. Geager is an Associate in Vedder Price’s New York office, and a member of the firm’s Global Transportation Finance team.

Mr. Geager focuses his practice on maritime and international finance, secured lending, and corporate matters, assisting clients in the shipping and maritime industry in complex domestic and cross-border financings and corporate governance and formation matters. His clients include financial institutions, funds, joint ventures, shipping companies and energy companies.

Mr. Geager has extensive experience in all aspects of large scale vessel financings and refinancings, representing both lenders and borrowers. He has acted as lead New York counsel and as local counsel for numerous offshore financings, advising on aspects of United States, Marshall Islands, Liberian and Vanuatu law.

Mr. Geager earned his J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law. While in law school he served as a Judicial Intern for the Honorable Joanna Seybert in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York and was vice president of the Intellectual Property Law Society. He also studied at the University of Glasgow School of Law as part of a foreign legal exchange program. He received his bachelor’s degree in Biology from Georgetown University.
