Frank Nolan Named Second Vice President of The Maritime Law Association of the United States
Vedder Price New York Shareholder Francis X. Nolan, III was recently elected Second Vice President of The Maritime Law Association of the United States (MLA). Prior to the election, he served as Chair of the organization’s Marine Financing Committee (2008–2013) and sat on its Board of Directors (2010–2013).
The MLA is a professional organization, established in 1899, concerned with improvements and uniformity in maritime law. The MLA’s 3,100 members consist of lawyers involved in maritime matters, judges active in matters involving admiralty issues, admiralty law professors, and nonlawyers who are selected because they hold responsible positions in the maritime field and have rendered distinguished service in the advancement of maritime law or its administration. The MLA is a constituent member of the Comité Maritime International (CMF) and an affiliated organization of the American Bar Association. Mr. Nolan has represented the MLA in the CMI’s International Subcommittee on Recognition of Judicial Sales of Ships and will continue to do so at the CMI’s conference in Hamburg, Germany in June 2014.
