Shareholder Ethan Rii and associate Caitlin Podbielski recently co-authored the article, “Expect the Expected: Contracting for and Navigating Health System Affiliations” in the June edition of The American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) Neurosurgeon. The article focuses on the various vehicles for affiliation in the modern health care market, including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, joint operating agreements and clinical co-management agreements, among others. Mr. Rii and Ms. Podbielski discuss how each type of transaction at the facility level can impact physicians and the negotiation tips physicians should consider should any administrative-level decisions based on business objectives and resource allocations arise.
