Vedder Thinking | Events Panelist and Presenter, NYIPLA’s “Fee Shifting in Patent Litigation”
December 4, 2013
John C. Cleary, a Shareholder in Vedder Price's New York office and a member of the firm's Litigation, Insurance and Intellectual Property practice groups, will participate in an NYIPLA (New York Intellectual Property Law Association) panel discussion titled "Fee Shifting in Patent Litigation." Hosted on December 4 by the NYIPLA's Amicus Brief Committee, the session will focus on fee shifting in patent litigation and will detail how one can avoid paying the opposing side's attorney's fees by making an exceptional case under 35 U.S.C. § 285. Specifically, the panelists will discuss the Highmark v. Allcare and Octane Fitness v. Icon Health and Fitness cases.
The NYIPLA is a bar association composed of lawyers interested in patent, trademark and copyright law who live or work in the jurisdictions of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. For more information on this organization, please click here.
