Vedder Thinking | News Bruce Radke Quoted in Law360 Article about FTC Data Privacy Standards
Bruce A. Radke, Vedder Price Shareholder and Chair of the firm's Data Privacy and Information Management practice group, was quoted in the November 26 Law360 article titled "Verizon Privacy Fixes Show How to Avoid the FTC’s Wrath." The article discusses why the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) decided to drop its case against Verizon Communications, Inc.'s alleged failure to adequately secure routers provided to its customers. The FTC determined that Verizon had taken appropriate steps to address and remedy the issue. Mr. Radke commented, "What made this case different is that Verizon recognized that there was an issue and developed a plan to address and mitigate the risk. So whenever the FTC had a discussion with them, they could say we've formulated a plan that we're in the process of implementing, and that in essence alleviates the need to have a consent decree with a corrective action plan."
