Amy L. Bess, Vedder Price Shareholder and member of the firm’s Labor and Employment practice area, was quoted in the recent Business Insurance article “Knowledge, Training Key to Avoiding Religious Discrimination Claims.”

The article addresses religious discrimination issues in the workplace, and the possibility that some employers may be neglecting to address these issues, particularly when it comes to a company’s training and written policies.

Says Ms. Bess in the article, “Historically, employers have spent a fair amount of time and been quite sophisticated about sexual harassment training of both managers and employees.” She recommends that employers be vigilant and act promptly “when they see any sign of religious intolerance in the workplace,” adding that “it’s not the kind of thing that’s going to go away on its own.
