Shareholder and Chair of the Labor & Employment practice area Amy L. Bess will present “Protecting the Board, Staff and Organization: Don’t Wait Until It’s Too Late” at ASAE’s 2019 Association Law Symposium in Washington, DC on June 4, 2019.

Today’s not-for-profit environment requires foresight, preparation and education focused on behaviors that can escalate from a seemingly innocuous act to litigation and/or a public relations disaster. This session will provide attendees with background on recent litigation and what association leadership, members and staff need to do to ensure that they understand how to educate the organization. Ms. Bess and her co-presenter will provide tools to help avoid and properly address improper behavior, discrimination or harassment; discuss how to develop and implement the core elements of a Code of Conduct for an organization; and provide action guidelines for those who feel they have been victims of, or have witnessed improper behavior, discrimination or harassment.

The Association Law Symposium is the premiere event for association legal professionals and senior-level association executives who need to stay up to date on legal and regulatory matters relevant to associations today. To learn more about the program, please click here.
