Vedder Price recently launched a formal Women’s Initiative. "Women at Vedder," or "WAVES," seeks to support the firm’s women attorneys in developing the skills and strategies to be successful in their practices, at the firm and in the community. The goals of the initiative are to promote the recruitment, retention and advancement of the firm’s women attorneys while providing meaningful opportunities for interaction among the firm’s women lawyers to develop mentoring relationships, as well as additional opportunities to expand their practices.

Under the direction of the Diversity Committee and its new chair Margo Wolf O’Donnell, WAVES is currently co-chaired by women shareholders across five offices: Amy L. Bess of the Washington, DC office; Mehtap Cevher Conti of the New York office; Jeanah Park of the Chicago office; and Lisa M. Simonetti of the Los Angeles office. The group is also supported by Laurel Dearborn, Manager of Associate Development; Amanda Brummel, Manager of Legal Recruiting; and Ann Hopkins Avery, Manager of Professional Development.

On November 12, 2015, WAVES will host its inaugural event jointly nationwide in five of Vedder Price’s offices. The event will feature a panel of in-house counsel offering insights and guidance on attracting clients and sustaining long-term client relationships.
