Alain Villeneuve, Ajay A. Jagtiani Publish Article on the Madrid System in Bloomberg
Alain Villeneuve, Associate, and Ajay A. Jagtiani, Shareholder, both members of Vedder Price’s Intellectual Property practice group, published the article “Pitfalls of Migration to the Madrid System” in the September 15, 2011 issue of Bloomberg Law Reports: Intellectual Property.
The article guides U.S. practitioners through the International Madrid Protocol, which the United States adopted in 2003 for the protection of trademarks. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office is still struggling today with many aspects of the implementation and management of this system, which is hampered by issues such as cost, inefficiency and other factors.
Mr. Villeneuve and Mr. Jagtiani describe this new system, provide examples of implementation and help navigate practitioners through the pitfalls to entry.
