Derek Zolner joined Vedder Price in 1999 as an associate in the firm’s Litigation Practice.

Mr. Zolner focuses his practice on all types of complex commercial litigation, including contract disputes between corporations, executive compensation disputes, and other business torts.

Mr. Zolner has particular experience representing financial institutions against individual and consumer class actions involving claims under the Truth in Lending Act, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, Consumer Lease Act, and various state consumer protection statutes.  Mr. Zolner has successfully contested class certification in these cases and has been successful in defeating these claims before trial.

Mr. Zolner has also litigated numerous intellectual property matters, including cases alleging trade secrets misappropriation and patent, trademark, and trade dress infringement.  Mr. Zolner also defends and prosecutes cases involving the enforcement of employee restrictive covenants.

In addition to his practice before state and federal courts, Mr. Zolner has also appeared in arbitrations before the American Arbitration Association and the National Association of Securities Dealers.
