Diane M. Kehl joined Vedder Price in 1986 and is a member of the firm’s litigation practice area. She has significant experience in class actions and complex commercial litigation and has defended a number of financial institutions and other clients in litigation involving a variety of state and federal claims, including common law fraud, breach of contract, and claimed violations of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA) and state consumer fraud statutes. She has successfully defended challenges to escrow practices, lender charges and practices, insurance placement, alleged predatory lending practices, yield spread premiums, finance charge computation and disclosure, and other business practices.
In addition, Ms. Kehl has served as an advisor and trial counsel in a number of cases involving intellectual property and enforcement of restrictive covenants. She has successfully litigated a number of cases involving injunctive relief on an emergency basis and through preliminary injunction and trial. She also routinely counsels clients on pre-litigation dispute resolution and has negotiated complex settlements on behalf of firm clients.
Ms. Kehl is currently chair of the firm’s Financial Institutions Litigation Sub practice Group, and is a past member of the firm’s Board of Directors. She was head of the Litigation Practice Area from 1997-1999.

Weiss v. Standard Federal Bank, No. 02-CV-71341DT (E.D. Mich., 3/10/03) (judgment entered for Standard Federal Bank and ABN AMRO Mortgage Group Inc., dismissing claims of unauthorized practice of law on grounds of federal preemption), appeal dismissed Dec. 12, 2003.
Wint v. ABN AMRO Mortgage Group, Inc., No. 22116-03 (N.Y. Sup. Ct., March 10, 2004) (denying class certification and dismissing claims challenging payment of yield spread premiums) appeal docketed, No. 2004-03218 (N.Y.App.Div.April 4,2004, consolidated with No. 2004-7314).
