Jonathan E. Aberman joined Vedder Price in 2007 as a shareholder serving in the firm’s Corporate Reorganization, Bankruptcy and Insolvency Practice Group.
Mr. Aberman concentrates his practice in bankruptcy and insolvency-related matters. He has represented secured and unsecured creditors, creditors’ committees, institutional lenders and trustees in bankruptcy reorganizations and liquidations, workouts and other insolvency-related proceedings. Mr. Aberman’s experience encompasses all aspects of the bankruptcy litigation process, including section 363 auctions and asset sales, chapter 11 plan formation and confirmation, debtor-in-possession financing, D&O investigation and prosecution, claims disputes and fraudulent and preferential transfer suits. Mr. Aberman also has experience in mortgage foreclosures, state court receiverships and assignments for the benefit of creditors.
Mr. Aberman’s publications include “Creditors’ Committees Under the Microscope-Recent Developments Highlight Hazards of Self-Dealing,” ABI Journal, September 2007 (Co-Author).
Prior to shifting his focus to bankruptcy in 2000, Mr. Aberman represented international insurers in complex insurance coverage litigation cases.
Mr. Aberman currently serves on the Board of Directors of Chicago’s Collaboration Theatre Company, a non-profit arts organization. He has also represented artists pro bono through the Lawyers for the Creative Arts.
