Robert J. Moran, a shareholder at Vedder Price, began his business and securities law practice after completing a clerkship for Justice Thomas A. McGloon of the Illinois Appellate Court. Bob concentrates his practice on advising private equity funds, mutual funds, investment advisers, business entities, broker-dealers, and individuals on business structuring and regulatory matters. In this connection, he represents investment adviser, private equity fund and mutual fund clients in all aspects of organization and compliance, including negotiation of investment management agreements, sales and acquisitions of mutual funds, private equity funds and investment advisory businesses, securities laws compliance and other general corporate and regulatory matters. He also has assisted in the structuring of professional practices and in organizing joint ventures among hospitals, physicians, professional associations and other businesses. Bob is a member of the Illinois State and Chicago Bar Associations. He served as Chairman of the Securities Law Committee of the Chicago Bar Association from 1990 to 1991, Vice Chairman of the Securities Law Committee 1989–1990 and Chairman of the Investment Company Subcommittee of the Securities Law Committee of the Chicago Bar Association from 1988 to 1990. Bob is an author and frequent lecturer on investment management issues.

In connection with his securities practice, Mr. Moran co-authored an article published in the DePaul Business Journal entitled "Soft Dollars and Other Traps for the Investment Adviser: An Analysis of Brokerage Placement Practices." Mr. Moran served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Josselyn Center for Mental Health, Northfield, Illinois, from 1988 to 1993 and as its president from 1989 to 1993. Mr. Moran has served on the Board of Directors of the Michigan Shores Club, Wilmette, Illinois, since May 2004 and has served as its president since May 2007. Mr. Moran is listed in the 2010 edition of The Best Lawyers in America.
