Morley S. Fortier, III is an Associate in the firm’s Finance and Transactions group.

Mr. Fortier focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, financing matters and general corporate governance for private equity funds, their portfolio companies and other public and privately held businesses. His transactional experience spans a wide range of industries and deal sizes.

Prior to joining Vedder Price, Mr. Fortier was an associate with Reed Smith LLP in its Chicago office where he concentrated his practice on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and general corporate matters.

In law school, Mr. Fortier was Lead Articles Editor for The John Marshall Law Review. He was a member of the John Marshall Law School Moot Court and the Order of John Marshall.

  • Represented privately owned business in the acquisition of the assets of a modeling education franchise
  • Represented a private equity portfolio company in the building products industry in its sale to a strategic buyer for $102 million
  • Represented a private equity sponsor in the formation of a new platform and the simultaneous acquisition of the assets of one company and the stock of another, both in the steel tube exhaust industry, with a total deal value in excess of $60 million
  • Represented a private equity portfolio company in the thermoplastic and thermoset resins industry in the acquisition of the assets of a thermoplastics company for $7.3 million
  • Represented a private equity sponsor in connection with an $80 million senior and $57 million second lien credit facility to fund a new platform in the pet products industry, and subsequent amendments thereto
  • Represented a private equity portfolio company in the thermoplastic and thermoset resins industry in connection with the refinancing and consolidation of its first, second and third lien credit facilities into a senior and second lien credit facility ($107 million total credit facility)
