Gabrielle M. Buckley is a shareholder in the Firm’s Corporate Practice Area.  Ms. Buckley has over 25 years of experience counseling U.S.-and foreign-based companies with regard to all aspects of employment-related immigration laws.  She advises employers as to immigration law issues arising in corporate mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and other forms of corporate reorganization, including investor visas.  Ms. Buckley assists clients in obtaining temporary and permanent immigration status in virtually every immigration category, liaising with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Department of State, and the U.S. Department of Labor.  She develops immigration compliance policies for employers, and conducts internal immigration/I-9 audits and training for employers.

Ms. Buckley presently serves on the Advisory Committee to the American Bar Association’s 13-member Commission on Immigration Policy, and is the former co-chair of the Immigration & Nationality Committee of the American Bar Association’s Section of International Law.  She is co-chair of the International Bar Association’s Immigration & Nationality Committee. Ms. Buckley serves as an Adjunct Professor of Law at The John Marshall Law School, and serves on the Leadership Council of the National Immigrant Justice Center.  Ms. Buckley is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, and is a frequent speaker on immigration-related topics. Ms. Buckley has been recognized by her peers as a top lawyer in her field as evidenced by having achieved a rating of "AV" from Martindale Hubbell Law Directory, the highest rating given to participating attorneys. As one of Illinois top-rated immigration attorneys, Ms. Buckley is also listed in the International Who's Who of Business Lawyers, Whos Who in American Law, International Whos Who of Corporate Immigration Lawyers, and Who's Who Legal: Illinois 2008.

  • Advises multinational corporations, U.S. employers and foreign nationals with regard to corporate immigration laws and related matters.
  • Advises foreign investors as to appropriate investment vehicles for immigration purposes, including selection of corporate form, international personnel matters and related tax issues.
  • Oversees preparation of applications and petitions for appropriate non-immigrant and immigrant status to be filed with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Department of State, particularly for business-related visa categories (including the B, E, H, I, J, L, O, P, and TN categories), national interest waiver petitions, labor certification applications and applications for naturalization.
  • Advises companies on immigration law issues in corporate mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and other forms of corporate reorganization.
  • Conducts I-9 audits and advises clients with regard to compliance and discrimination issues.
  • Provides general advice regarding a wide variety of immigration-related matters, including citizenship, consular processing, and effects of criminal acts.
  • Designs and prepares client seminars on immigration-related topics.
