After working for several years in national politics, Timothy J. Carroll joined Vedder Price’s Litigation Practice Group in 1999. He is a shareholder and has vast experience in handling a wide variety of commercial litigation matters through trial, arbitration and appeal, including those matters relating to securities fraud, misappropriation of confidential information and trade secrets, fraud and other business tort and consumer actions. Mr. Carroll has counseled numerous clients, including a Fortune 5 company, a major defense contractor, several financial institutions and other Fortune 500 Companies, on adopting and implementing lawfully compliant records management programs and electronic communications policies. Mr. Carroll is widely published and quoted in the field of records management and eDiscovery. His articles and comments have been featured in Compliance Week, Metropolitan Corporate Counsel and the Chicago Tribune. He is also a faculty member of the Georgetown University Law Center’s Advanced E-Discovery Institute and he serves as Co-Chair of the firm’s records management and eDiscovery practice group.

Mr. Carroll serves as the Chairman of the firm’s Retail Industry Service Team.  He has successfully represented retailers and merchants in various ADA, commercial and privacy litigation matters and has extensively counseled them on records management and eDiscovery initiatives.

Mr. Carroll attended law school at the DePaul University College of Law, where he earned membership to the DePaul Law Review and served as President of the Student Bar Association.  He also served as a Fellow to the Public Interest Law Initiative in 1999, is actively involved in pro bono activities, and received Vedder Price’s Pro Bono Award for his outstanding service in 2006. He now serves as a guest lecturer on the law of trade secrets at the DePaul University College of Law’s IP Legal Clinic.

Mr. Carroll is a member of advisory boards of various software companies involved in the commercialization of records management and data storage solutions, and is a member of several bar associations.

Mr. Carroll’s representative clients include:  Chicago Tube & Iron, Circuit City Stores, Inc., Marriott International, Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, Open Text Corporation, PrivateBancorp, Inc., The Home Depot, The Marmon Group and Union Bank of California.
