John T. McEnroe is a Shareholder at Vedder Price, where he concentrates his practice in secured transactions, leveraged buyouts, mergers and acquisitions, bankruptcy, business reorganization and related areas of law. Mr. McEnroe has represented a variety of public and private companies in over 70 acquisitions and divestitures. In these transactions, Mr. McEnroe has been involved in not only structuring and negotiating the acquisition documents, but also in procuring, structuring and finalizing the requisite financing.
With respect to commercial finance transactions, Mr. McEnroe has been named by Chambers USA as one of the top attorneys in Chicago for banking and finance. In that practice area, Mr. McEnroe has represented traditional banks, finance companies, hedge funds and other financial institutions in unsecured, asset-based, cash flow and project finance credit facilities. Within such transactions, Mr. McEnroe represents first lien lenders, second lien lenders and/or mezzanine debt holders.
Mr. McEnroe is the author of numerous articles, most recently "Second Lien Term Loans in International Transactions" in Financier Worldwide Magazine. For the past several years, Mr. McEnroe has been one of three speakers at the National Business Institute Seminar on "Buying and Selling Businesses in Illinois" and in that capacity was one of the coursebook authors. Mr. McEnroe has been a presenter and panel moderator at the Strategies Business Institute Programs on Second Lien Loans.
He is a graduate of the University of Illinois (B.S., 1974) and Yale Law School (J.D., 1977). Mr. McEnroe was selected by his peers from 2006 to 2012 for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America. He was selected for inclusion from2008 to 2012 in Illinois Super Lawyers. In 2011, Mr. McEnroe was ranked in Chambers USA in the Illinois Banking and Finance category. He received an "AV Preeminent" Peer Rating in Martindale-Hubbell.
