David E. Bennett is a shareholder at Vedder Price and a member of the firm’s Litigation Area and Investment Services Group. He represents financial service companies and other businesses at trial and appellate levels in federal and state courts and in arbitration. He has handled cases in court, arbitration, or mediation involving securities actions, class actions, complex contract disputes, distributor terminations, trademark and trade dress claims, Internet disputes, health care issues, insurance coverage, antitrust, proxy fights and fraudulent conveyance issues as well as other commercial disputes. Mr. Bennett has extensive experience representing mutual funds, banks and other financial service providers. For example, Mr. Bennett represented the independent directors of the Yachtman Fund in proxy fight litigation and the independent trustees of the DWS Scudder and Calamos Funds in class action litigation. Mr. Bennett also represents business clients in federal administrative and criminal matters, and counsels clients regarding arbitration and mediation contractual provisions and procedures.

Clients represented by Mr. Bennett include Dimensional Fund Advisors, Inc., JPMorgan Chase, Janus Funds, General Motors Acceptance Corporation, Illinois Tool Works Inc., Household International, Schawk, Inc., Bodum USA, Inc. and Abbott Laboratories.

Mr. Bennett has served as President of the Seventh Circuit Bar Association and is active through the Association in working with court of appeals and district court judges to improve the administration of justice in the federal courts throughout the Circuit. He previously served as Chair of the Antitrust Law Section Council of the Illinois State Bar Association. He also is a member of the Litigation Section of the American Bar Association and the Illinois and Chicago Bar Associations.

Mr. Bennett was selected by his peers for inclusion in Illinois Super Lawyers 2009.
