Michael R. Mulcahy is a member of the firm’s Litigation Practice Area. He maintains a trial and counseling practice covering a broad range of substantive issues in both state and federal courts throughout the country. Mr. Mulcahy has significant experience in complex commercial and financial institution litigation involving breach of contract, business torts, mortgage fraud, software license disputes, intellectual property issues, real estate and trust disputes, school law and bankruptcy.
Mr. Mulcahy regularly counsels clients in litigation avoidance and is skilled in the use of alternative dispute resolution techniques, including negotiation, mediation and arbitration. Before entering private practice, Mr. Mulcahy spent four years as a prosecutor and defense counsel in the United States Marine Corps. He currently is a Major in the United States Marine Corps Reserves.
Mr. Mulcahy performs a great deal of pro bono work and was recently named the Chair of Vedder Price’s Pro Bono committee. In 2005 he was named Pro Bono Attorney of the Year by the Children and Family Justice Center of Northwestern University School of Law’s Bluhm Legal Clinic. A former teacher, Mr. Mulcahy has a special interest in the rights of children and youth. He has successfully represented pro bono clients in civil rights, school expulsion, adoption, delinquency and special education matters.
