Joseph A. Strubbe joined Vedder Price in 1996 as a shareholder and is a member of the firm’s Litigation Practice Area. He has significant experience in complex commercial and financial institution litigation, including the defense of major class action claims. He currently serves as National Mortgage Fraud Recovery Coordinating Counsel for one of the nation’s largest mortgage lenders. Mr. Strubbe also has widespread experience in investigation, Alternative Dispute Resolution, and trial of matters involving federal and state environmental issues, including government and private cost recovery and contribution actions under CERCLA, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) claims, groundwater contamination claims, administrative and private actions pertaining to contamination from underground storage tanks and environmental contamination claims against contractors. He has extensive experience in the litigation and trial of contract disputes, failed transactions as well as transactional counseling, fraud and trade secret misappropriation claims, franchise and distributor actions, UCC claims, reinsurance and insurance coverage matters, and negligence and professional malpractice matters.
From August 1985 to August 1987, he was a Judicial Clerk for the Honorable Frank J. McGarr, Chief Judge, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. In May, 2005 and again in May, 2006, Mr. Strubbe was identified as a "Super Lawyer" in the category of business litigation in Chicago Magazine’s Annual Survey of more than 47,000 Illinois lawyers.

He has recently served as trial counsel and in negotiation and settlement of class action claims against a national financial institution with exposure of over $3 billion.
