Bruce R. Alper is a Shareholder at Vedder Price, where he has practiced management side labor and employment law for over 25 years. An accomplished litigator, Mr. Alper has represented employers in employment disputes of all types in judicial, administrative and arbitral forums. He has years of experience advising employers on matters involving employment discrimination, sexual harassment, wrongful discharge, workforce reductions, labor relations, family/medical leaves and other employment regulatory matters. Mr. Alper represents a wide range of private-sector employers, including hospitals, financial institutions, manufacturers and universities, where he partners with management, corporate counsel and human resources professionals to develop strategic, cost-effective approaches to employee relations problems and risk management.
Mr. Alper is a frequent speaker and trainer on employment law issues. He is a member of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the American Bar Association, the National Association of College and University Attorneys and the Illinois Association of Healthcare Attorneys. He chaired the firm’s Labor group and served on its Board of Directors for seven years.
Mr. Alper is a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, and was recognized by the Legal 500 United States guide in a report ranking the firm among the top ten Labor and Employment firms in the United States. Mr. Alper was selected for inclusion from 2006 to 2012 in Illinois Super Lawyers. The Legal 500 United States guide recommends Mr. Alper in the Labor and Employment—Workplace and Employment Counseling category. Mr. Alper was selected by his peers from 2011 to 2012 for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America. In addition, he received an "AV Preeminent" Peer Rating in Martindale-Hubbell. Mr. Alper has been selected by his peers from 2003 to 2012 as a Leading Lawyer in Employment: Management Law.
