Michael L. Igoe, a native of Chicago, is an attorney specializing in general corporate practice and real estate law at Vedder Price, in Chicago, Illinois. Following his graduation from Georgetown University he served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954. Mr. Igoe presently serves as general counsel for a number of corporations. He also represents in various matters state and local governing bodies. He is a member of the Chicago Bar Association. Mr. Igoe has long been active in local government affairs and has served on the Zoning Board of Appeals for the City of Chicago, and he has served 29 years as secretary of the Cook County Board of Commissioners under Presidents John Duffy, Seymour Simon, Richard Ogilvie and George Dunne. In addition to his position as Secretary of the Board of Commissioners, he was the head of the Tax Delinquency Department of Cook County and also, for 25 years, supervised the planning and construction of Cook County facilities, including the five suburban court facilities and the additions to the Criminal Court Complex and Cook County Department of Corrections as well as the remodeling of various Cook County facilities.

He has served as a board member of the Hyde Park-Kenwood Community Conservation Council, Hyde Park Neighborhood Club and the Southeast Chicago Commission. He has also served as a member of the Board of the Catholic Theological Union. He has served on the committees for the Circuit Court of Cook County, including the recent study of the Traffic Court, Domestic Violence Court and Criminal Court and also the Housing Court Committee.

He served as Special Counsel to the Office of the Illinois Secretary of State, Jesse White. As such, he managed the Legal Department for the Office of the Secretary of State. In this capacity, he personally reviewed all major contracts for the Office and has a working knowledge of government policies and procedures, procurement and contracts. He was the legal member of the Secretary of State’s committee for the implementation of the Administrative Rule of the Electronic Commerce Act. He has also been involved in the negotiation of contracts with major vendors to the Office of the Secretary of State.

He is presently on the Board of The Great Books Foundation, The Jesse White Scholars Foundation and the Lakeland Conservancy, a nature conservancy.
