Sara J. Kagay joined Vedder Price as an associate in the firm’s Labor and Employment practice group in 2005. She was formerly a Labor and Employment Law associate at Kansas City law firm Lathrop & Gage, where she also practiced management-side labor and employment law. Her experience includes the defense of employers in employment litigation before state and federal courts and administrative agencies, including both individual employee and class action litigation. Ms. Kagay has significant experience with all aspects of equal employment opportunity, wrongful discharge, and wage and hour litigation.
Ms. Kagay also regularly counsels employers on day-to-day employment law issues including handbooks and policies, employee discipline and discharge, independent contractors, arbitration policies, harassment and workplace investigations and federal and state employment laws. She partners with management, corporate counsel and human resources professionals to develop practical approaches to employee relations issues and has successfully resolved disputes through negotiation and mediation. Ms. Kagay frequently speaks and provides training on employment law issues and has authored articles on workplace harassment and class actions.
