Chair, Corporate Practice Area
John R. Obiala is the Chair of the Corporate Practice Area at Vedder Price and is a longstanding member of the Board of Directors. Mr. Obiala counsels corporate clients on general corporate and finance matters, particularly in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations and restructurings, secured transactions and other corporate financings and contractual matters. He also represents venture capital and private equity firms with respect to their investments.
Mr. Obiala has extensive experience in all aspects of Delaware and Illinois corporate, partnership and limited liability laws. He has counseled boards of directors of public and private companies and stockholders concerning corporate governance, fiduciary duties, takeover defense, indemnification, directors and officers insurance and other matters.
Mr. Obiala also acts as outside general counsel to many closely held and family-owned corporations.
