Dean N. Gerber is a shareholder at Vedder Price P.C. and chairs the Equipment Finance Group. He has extensive experience as special counsel representing lessees, equity participants, lenders, credit enhancers, underwriters, governmental agencies and others on various aspects of aircraft finance, rail finance and other general equipment finance, including leveraged leasing, operating leasing, mortgage and synthetic lease financings, cross-border leasing, securitizations (including "EETCs" and pass-through certificates), government (export credit agency) supported financings, manufacturer supported financings, bankruptcy, restructurings and workouts, and purchase, maintenance and conversion agreements. Mr. Gerber has specific knowledge of structured tax-motivated financings such as U.S.-leveraged leases. He also has participated significantly in the development and structuring of financings involving export credit agencies (primarily the Export-Import Bank of the United States).

Mr. Gerber, also a certified public accountant, is a frequent speaker at air finance conferences and legal forums. He has authored numerous articles on equipment finance-related topics and, most recently, a chapter on the topic of aircraft finance appearing in Equipment Leasing—Leveraged Leasing, 4th Edition (Rev. 2009), published by the Practising Law Institute. Mr. Gerber is regularly named one of the top aviation lawyers in the world by Legal Media Group’s "Expert Guide" (including, most recently, a listing as "The Best of the Best" in 2009 for Aviation), the International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers (one of the top 10 most highly regarded individuals in Aviation for 2010), Chambers Client Guide (included in Band 1 for Leading Individuals for Aviation Finance in 2009) and Legal 500 U.S. (included in the top 5 Leading Lawyers for Asset Finance and Leasing in 2009). Mr. Gerber also serves on the Legal Advisory Panel for the Aviation Working Group in connection with its work on aviation-related matters, including the Cape Town Convention.
