EFG Ranked Highly in Chambers Global 2008
Chambers Global, a well-respected ranking of law firms and lawyers in more than 160 countries, ranked the Equipment Finance Group (EFG) at Vedder Price among the Top 8 Asset Finance practices in the world in its 2008 Guide. In addition, Chambers Global 2008 listed Dean N. Gerber, John I. Karesh, Ronald Scheinberg and Jeffrey T. Veber, all shareholders in the EFG, as highly ranked Asset Finance lawyers.
The Chambers Global rankings are assessed based on an attorney’s technical legal ability, professional conduct, client service, commercial knowledge, diligence and commitment to their clients. The Chambers ranking system is based solely on unbiased research; there are no “pay-to-play” entries. Chambers employs over 100 experienced researchers dedicated to investigating the legal profession in all the main areas of practice. Researchers interview clients to determine which law firms they use and how they rate them for legal ability and client service.
According to the listing, “Dean N. Gerber’s “invaluable experience” and “calm demeanour” make him “a pleasure to work with.” His “strong but non-confrontational” approach in negotiations and “excellent bedside manner” have made him a highly prized source of counsel. Ronald Scheinberg is a “practical and focused” asset finance lawyer, whose experience covers “the whole spectrum” of financings. Peers hold him in high regard: “He is incredibly well trusted and admired.” Jeffrey Veber is a "famous expert worldwide,” with “vital experience of working for an array of lenders.” John Karesh’s “really strong academic knowledge of the subject” and expertise in a range of ancillary issues, including bankruptcy, have helped establish him as an “increasingly prominent figure in the market.”
Vedder Price was described as a highly regarded firm which has “extended its influence across the world’s major asset finance markets.” The EFG, long known for its depth and experience, was commended as having a market knowledge "that few competitors can best.”
