Aviation Attorneys Join Vedder Price in Washington, D. C.
Regulatory and Finance Shareholder Joins New Office
Equipment Finance Associate Also Joins in DC
[Chicago, October 17] The law firm of Vedder Price announces that David M. Hernandez joins its new office in Washington, D. C. today as a shareholder. Formerly associated with Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, Mr. Hernandez represents aerospace companies, domestic and foreign air carriers, aircraft charter companies, governmental agencies and high net worth individuals in a wide variety of Fortune 500 corporations in regulatory, enforcement, certification and financing matters relating to business and commercial aviation. A former trial attorney in the office of the Chief Counsel of the Federal Aviation Administration, he advises clients in all aspects of compliance with FAA, TSA, IRS, DOD, DOC, SEC and DOT regulations. He also is involved in assisting clients regarding export/import compliance, aviation security matters and government contracts.

In addition to his FAA experience, Mr. Hernandez served as an attorney in the office of Counsel to the President under President William Clinton, following two years of service at the U.S. Department of Transportation’s prestigious Honors Attorney Program.
Mr. Hernandez handles various corporate aircraft practice matters, which involves preparing aircraft purchase/sale and lease agreements, aircraft/pilot management agreements, and negotiating fractional ownership agreements, executive personal use of aircraft in accordance with FAA, IRS, and SEC regulations, and the creation of aircraft use policies.
Mr. Hernandez is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy (B.S., 1988). He served as an officer in the United States Air Force from 1988 to 1993. He received his MBA degree from Monmouth University in 1994 and his legal education from Northwestern University School of Law (J.D., 1996). He is a member of the American Bar Association’s Forum of Air and Space Law.
Joining the Washington office at the same time is Philip M. Livingston, an Equipment Finance associate who comes to the firm from the DC office of Eckert Seamens. Mr. Livingston has drafted operating leases, aircraft purchase agreements, engine leases as well as provided tax, regulatory and insurance advice on a number of transactions. Mr. Livingston is a graduate of Carleton College (B.A., cum laude, 1996) and Georgetown University Law Center (J.D., 1991).
