Vedder Price Announces Diversity Scholarship

The law firm of Vedder, Price, Kaufman & Kammholz, P.C. has announced a diversity scholarship program designed to assist students at Illinois law schools in an effort to promote diversity at Vedder Price and throughout the profession. Beginning this year, the firm will award a deserving student $5,000 annually for their legal education. In addition, the firm will guarantee the student a place in its summer program after the recipient’s first year in law school. In 2004, summer interns earned $8,000 per month at Vedder Price.
“We recognize that the cost to attend law school in Illinois is significant,” noted the Chair of the firm’s Diversity Committee, Lawrence J. Casazza. “We want to make a difference and we specifically desire to promote diversity within our firm and within the profession at large. We feel that this program represents a fresh approach and will go along way to help a student achieve his or her goals. The fact that we are willing to guarantee a spot in our highly-competitive summer program will mean that the student will receive important work experience as well as financial assistance.”
On an annual basis, the firm will select a deserving student to receive the scholarship. The student may attend any accredited law school in the state of Illinois at which Vedder Price actively recruits. The financial assistance may be used for tuition, housing or textbooks and funding will be available for each of the three years in law school, assuming satisfactory performance standards are met.
