02/21/08 - Global Aviation Expert Joins Vedder Price

The law firm of Vedder Price P.C. announces that Caryl C. Ben Basat joins its growing Washington, D.C. office effective today. Formerly a shareholder in the corporate department of Akerman Senterfitt in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Ben Basat will become a shareholder in the Equipment Finance practice group at Vedder Price. Ms. Ben Basat has an international aviation practice including aircraft and engine leasing and finance, maritime acquisition and finance (including cruise ships and yachts), structured lending and general corporate and international business transactions.

Her expertise in the aviation industry stems from her varied professional experience, which includes an international aircraft leasing company, an aircraft engine and parts supplier, an aircraft maintenance provider and an airline.”

A graduate of San Francisco State University (magna cum laude, B. A.) and the Pace University School of Law (cum laude, J.D., where she served as Editor-in-Chief of the Pace International Law Review), Ms. Ben Basat has represented foreign and domestic air carriers, leasing companies and lenders in aircraft and engine acquisition, lease, finance and sales transactions.

Ms. Ben Basat is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, Florida and Connecticut. She is an active member of a number of associations, including the American Bar Association where she served as Vice Chair of the Corporate Counsel Committee of the International Law and Practice Section, and is a member of the Aircraft Finance Subcommittee of the Business Law Section. Ms. Ben Basat is also a member of the International Society of Transport Aircraft Traders (ISTAT), and served as a Board Member of the Greater Miami Aviation Association.
