Construction and Project Development Attorney Joins Vedder Price

[Chicago, August 2]  The law firm of Vedder Price announced that Richard W. Pearse—formerly a Partner with Winston & Strawn—will join the Firm as a Shareholder in its Corporate Law and Construction Law Practice Groups.  Mr. Pearse concentrates his practice in project development and design, construction and "engineering, procurement and construction" (EPC) contracting relating to plant and equipment installations and commercial and industrial developments.  His clients include manufacturing companies, engineering companies, OEM's and project developers in the U.S. and abroad.

“We are absolutely delighted to have Richard Pearse join our growing Construction Law Group” noted Karen P. Layng, Group Chair and member of the Firm’s Board of Directors.  “The depth and breadth of his expertise in the field of engineering, procurement and construction contracting represents a significant addition to our corporate construction expertise.  He represents many of the largest manufacturing companies and developers in complicated, billion dollar agreements.  He will be a great asset to all of our clients who need to negotiate and administer site acquisition, design, construction and development agreements, both in the United States and around the world.”

Mr. Pearse lectures frequently on construction and procurement topics, and is the author of “Vendor-led Engineering—Procure—Construct (EPC) Projects,” (with Ross Altman), a chapter in The Construction Business Handbook (Aspen 2003) and “Compensation Arrangements in Design and Construction Agreements,” as well as “International Privatization,” chapters in Construction Law.

Mr. Pearse is a graduate of Boston University, where he received a B.A. in 1976.  He was awarded an M.A. in 1980 from the University of Chicago and received his legal education from Northwestern University School of Law (J.D., 1984).  He is a founding member of the Hinsdale Auxiliary of the Children’s Home and Aid Society of Illinois and a member of the Boards of the Center for Disability and Elder Law and St. Gregory Episcopal School.

The law firm of Vedder Price is comprised of more than 200 attorneys with offices in Chicago, New York City and New Jersey.  The Firm services clients in three core areas of practice:  Corporate Finance and Transactions, Commercial Litigation and Labor and Employment Law.  The Construction Law Group assists clients in a full range of commercial and industrial construction projects and represent corporate owners, developers, lenders architects, engineers, contractors and subcontractors.
