Vedder Price Counsels Southwest Airlines in $19 Billion Boeing Purchase
Vedder Price’s Global Transportation Finance team assisted Southwest Airlines in its recent purchase of 150 737 MAX airplanes and 58 Next-Generation 737s, valued at $19 billion.
The firm’s Global Transportation Finance team was led by Shareholder Cameron A. Gee, who was assisted by Blake A. Smith and Robert G. Gucwa. Southwest’s order represents the first firm purchase of the 737 MAX aircraft. According to Boeing, it is the largest purchase in its history in both dollar amount and number of planes. Southwest will take delivery of the first 737 MAX when it enters into service in 2017.
